Some Eco-Friendly Paints That Your House Painter Can Use

Business Blog

You have probably spent some time choosing the paint colours for your redecoration project, but you may not have thought of the types of paint that will be used. In fact, there are many different types of natural and eco-friendly paints that your house painter can use.

The main problem with paint is that it contains volatile organic compounds, or VOCs. These are included for a number of reasons, including to help the paint dry more easily. Unfortunately, they also give off fumes that can be bad for your health as well as for the environment. The good news is that there are many paints available that do not include these additives.

Some paints, for example, simply omit these compounds. These are normal latex paints but are usually labelled as being low-VOCs or no-VOCs. They come in the same variety of finishes as normal paints and so are a good choice if you just want low-impact paint latex. However, there are many other types to choose from.

Linseed oil paint, for example, is made from entirely natural ingredients — mostly from pressed flax seeds, with natural pigments added. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and can cover virtually any surface, and unlike traditional paints, it should not peel or flake away. This means it requires very little maintenance and will be durable as well as environmentally friendly.

Milk paint is another option that has been used for thousands of years. It is a mix of milk protein with natural ingredients such as clay, chalk and limestone. It will probably come as a powder that you will have to mix up into paint but can be applied to virtually any surface once it has been made up. It will take less than an hour to dry and so is a good option if you have pets or children around.

Another option you could consider is ceramic paint. This includes tiny ceramic particles (known as microspheres) that spread the paint around evenly, eliminating the need for VOCs. They have very good anti-microbial properties and are resistant to the growth of mildew and mould. They are also less likely to attract dirt or stains.

These are just some of the more environmentally friendly products available. If you want to know more, just talk to your painting contractor, who will be happy to discuss the types of paint available and the one most suitable for you and your home.

Top Business Tips

Hello, my name is Sandra and I live in Australia. This is my new blog which is all about the benefits of planning when operating a business. I am new to the world of business but in the 6 months that I have been running my shop, I have learnt an awful lot. My teacher has been Mr Jones, a local businessman with many years of experience. Mr Jones helped me to plan my budget, source my stock and to negotiate with suppliers. I decided to start a blog to pass on some top tips to others. I hope you find it useful.
